YWCA of Genesee County can’t get its work done without the special staff dedicated to helping victims of domestic violence. But this year there’s another special team player set to join us for the annual Stiletto & Sneaker Walk. Former Buffalo Bills great Steve Tasker will help us kick off this year’s event on Thursday, October 1. Please join our “special teams” in honoring victims and survivors of domestic violence during this walk. There will be purple balloons, purple socks and a #Thurple campaign in an effort to raise awareness of this ugly epidemic. The violence is all too real for hundreds of victims each year in Genesee County alone.
Help us to spread the word that no victim has to endure violence and abuse. And if you see it, say it: tell someone if you even suspect such abuse of a friend, family member, co-worker, neighbor, or anyone you encounter.
Come and see Steve Tasker, take a two-mile walk and, if you’ve worked up an appetite, join us for our Community Harvest Supper. Walk is at 5:30 p.m. and supper goes from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, October 1 at YWCA, 301 North St. Walk is $10 (12 and under free) and $8 for the supper. (585) 343-5808.
